Jammu and Kashmir is Currently under the grip of South West Monsoon since the last week of June 2024, From the last week of June to till there is nothing major spell of South West Monsoon observed in Jammu and Kashmir due to which intensive heat wave recorded in many parts of J&K.

Due to absense of any major weather system since the last few weeks water level in several water bodies / Rivers reduced and drought like conditions develop over few parts. The prolonged wait likely to end soon

A Major Wet Spell of this Monsoon likely to bring Good amount of precipitation over many parts of Jammu and Kashmir from tomorrow

Today on 28 July Light to Slightly moderate Rainfall may occur over some places of Jammu and Kashmir, especially in parts of Jammu Divison.

Heavy Rainfall Alert

Between 29 July to 3 August parts of Jammu Divison may witness some heavy spells of Rain. The maximum chances of Heavy spells likely to be over Kathua, Samba, Doda, Jammu, Udhampur, Reasi, Rajouri and Poonch districts of Jammu Divison. Peoples of these areas who are living near rivers are advised not to go near rivers during the above said period as flash flood may occur due to intensive rainfall in these areas.

What Will be Weather in Kashmir Valley between 29 July to 3 August.

Between 29 July to 03 August Light to moderate intensity intermittent rain showers may occur over many parts of Kashmir Valley which may bring the temperature down from normal levels and also some respite from Heatwave expected for the residents of Kashmir valley due to this wet spell.

Note : No continuos Rainfall expected during this spell only intermittent spells may occur.

Precautions

  • 1. Avoid to go near flash flood prone areas.
  • 2. Avoid to go in Landslide prone areas.
  • 3. Before traveling on Jammu Srinagar National Highway or Mughal Road kindly check road status from J&K Traffic Police.
  • 4. Avoid Spraying on plants/crops during this period.
