Poonch is a border district situated in the western side of Jammu & Kashmir UT. It is situated about 210KM away from Jammu city & 150KM away from Srīnagar city. It is famous for its scenic beauty. It is popularly known as Mini Kashmir & the Valley of seven lakes . It is Surrounded by Rajouri district in the South, Kulgam & Shopian towards East, Budgam & Baramula towards North. Its Western side is bounded by LOC.

Best places to visit in Poonch district.

1. Loran Mandi : Loran Mandi is a beautiful and Historic place of Poonch district. In the Ancient time it was the kingdom of Kashmir. The Loran name is derived from the name Lohara ( The famous Hindu Rular of Kashmir). Loran Mandi is situated In Mandi Tehsil of the district Poonch. It is about 35KM away from Poonch Town towards Eastern side. There is a famous shrine namely Budhha Amarnath in the way to Loran Mandi where lakhs of devotees visited yearly.. Road connectivity is available.

2.Sawjian Mandi : It is beautiful village located near the LOC in Mandi Tehsil of Poonch district. It is about 40KM away from Poonch Town & 17 Km away from Mandi town. This place is famous for its scenic beauty thousands of tourists visited there yearly. During the 5 Months in winters this area remains covered with white blanket of snow. Road connectivity is available.

Sawjian Mandi

Jabbi Toti : It is beautiful Medow situated at the border of Surankote & Mandi Tehsil of Poonch District. It is about 35Km away from Poonch Town & 13Km away from Surankote town. This place is situated at the elevation of 2500M. From here you can view whole of the Poonch District except some parts of Mendhar Tehsil. Presently there is no road connectivity at this site. You can reach here via two trek routes one from Arai area of Mandi Tehsil & Second one from Hari Marhote area of Surankote Tehsil. The trekking route is just of 5km.

Jabbi Toti

Noori Chamb : It is beautiful , famous & Historic waterfall of Poonch District situated in Bafliaz block of Surankote tehsil on a way of Mughal Road. The the name of this waterfall derived from the name of Mughal Empire Shajahan queen’s Noor Jahan. This waterfall is situated about 43Km away from Poonch Town, 16Km away from Surankote town & 6Km away from Buffliaz town. Yearly about 1 to 5 Lakhs tourists visit here. The is the first choice of travellers & tourists to visit the Poonch. Road connectivity is available.

Noori Chamb

Nandi Chool : Nandi Chool is the Kashmir’s highest waterfall located in Loran valley of Poonch District. Tourist prefer this place as the best adventures site of the district Poonch. Road connectivity is unavailable at this site.

Dehra Ki Gali : It’s is a mountain pass in Poonch district Located at the border of Surankote ( Poonch) & ThannaMandi (Rajouri). From here you can view the mighty snow covered peaks of pir Panjal Range . Department of Tourism J&K established many huts here for the stay of tourists. This pass is situated at the elevation of 2100M. Road connectivity is available.

Dehra Ki Gali.

Girgan Valley: Girgan Valley is the famous site of Poonch district. It is famous for its seven springs . It is situated in Surankote Tehsil of Poonch District. Tourists prefer this site is Jammu kahsmir’s best tourist site. The beauty of this site attract thousands of tourists every year. Presently there is no road connectivity at this site. According to the tourists: When this site will connected with road connectivity than the foreign tourists prefer this site from ski resorts and other winter games instead of Gulmarg. You can reach here on 6 to 8 hours walk from Behramgala.

Girgan Valley

Pir Panjal Range: It is Mountain range of Jammu & Kashmir which seprates Jammu from Kashmir region. This Range also runs through Poonch District. The higher altitudes of this range always covered with snow. The famous Tatakooti Peak is the highest peak of this range located in Surankote Tehsil of the district. This Range is one of the best site for Mountain trakkers. The two famous passes of this Range are Peer Ki Gali & Banihal pass.
